There is so much to see and do in the city and North Adelaide - from internationally-renowned events to exquisite culinary delights, beautiful Park Lands to thought-provoking galleries and museums, there's an experience for everyone.
Originally called Tarntanya (red kangaroo place) by the Kaurna people, the original custodians of the land, Adelaide is the capital city of South Australia and was first settled by European free-settlers in 1836. The result was unique - the world's only city within a park, which it still is today.

Transport in Adelaide
Adelaide has an extensive public transport system of buses, trains and trams. To use the network, it's recommended that you purchase a MetroCard. You can purchase a regular metroCARD at Adelaide Airport or from participating retailers in the city. You can also purchase a metroCARD Visitor Pass which gives you three days of unlimited travel on the Adelaide Metro network for one fixed fee.
Trams
Adelaide has a useful tram service that operates through the city centre and inner suburbs. It's most convenient or travel within the city and reaching the popular coastal suburb of Genelg. The service runs every 10-15 minutes from around 7am to midnight. A free tram conveniently stops at the Adelaide Railway Station, which is just a two minute walk from the conference venue.
Trains
Adelaide's rail network is a great way to visit attractions outside of the city centre. From Adelaide Railway Station, you can catch the Outer Harbor line train to reach destinations such as historic Port Adelaide and the beachside suburb of Semaphore.
Bus
Adelaide has a free City Connector bus service that operates in both clockwise and anticlockwise directions in the city centre. City Connector busses also travel between Adelaide's downtown hotels and attractions such as the South Australian Museum, Adelaide Botanic Garden, Adelaide Zoo and Adelaide Oval.
Rideshare
Most major ridesharing platforms operate in Adelaide, including Uber, Ola and DiDi, as well as local operator GoCatch.
